About Eidecan
What is Eidecan?
Eidecan (ee-de-kin) is an annual all-ages festival held every December in Toowoomba, Queensland. It is a day and night event with live music, markets, arts and music workshops, and a range of activities and other performances focusing on fun without the use of drugs and alcohol. Eidecan also runs an annual Battle of the Bands for unsigned talent, the finals of which are held at the festival itself.
The festival started in 2000 as a way for young people to take an active role in their own lives and to encourage others to do the same. The emphasis is on having a go and is designed to show what can be achieved if you set your mind to something.
For some years Eidecan was held in conjunction with Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers, however since 2006 the festival has been a stand-alone event and is going strong in 2009.
